Even so, we understand that many people have concerns, so we can assure you we will only recommend an x-ray when it’s necessary for protecting your oral health. If you are in good health with no history of dental problems, we typically recommend a set of bitewing x-rays (a single image of upper and lower teeth) once a year and a full set of x-rays every five years.

Instead of film, digital x-rays use a flat sensor with rounded edges to capture the image. Digital sensors are easier to position properly and won’t irritate gum and cheek tissue.

An important aspect of your dental care is patient education. Digital x-rays produce highly-detailed images that we can display on your chairside monitor. Just like any other digital image, Dr. Moheban can enlarge it, zoom in, and even rotate so you can see the same detail he sees.
