Our team will be by your side every step of the way, from your initial consultation throughout your recovery.

Here are some tips for tooth extraction aftercare.

#1 Eat Soft Foods

Many people wonder what to eat after extraction, and we recommend sticking with soft foods that don't irritate the extraction site. For the first 24 to 48 hours, we suggest eating foods like eggs, oatmeal, pudding, Jell-O, ice cream, yogurt, and applesauce. As you heal and feel better, you can incorporate solid foods.

#2 Avoid Using Straws

Using a straw or other pokey utensils can irritate the extraction site and dislodge the blood clot necessary for healing. If the blood clot dislodges, it can lead to "dry socket," which is painful and requires prompt care from your dentist.

#3 Keep Your Mouth Clean

Keeping the extraction site clean is essential for warding off bacteria and infection. Be sure to rinse your mouth throughout the day using an antibacterial mouthwash. Don't brush or floss around the extraction site. However, you can continue brushing and flossing as usual in other areas of your mouth.

#4 No Exercising or Heavy Lifting

Please hold off on strenuous activities for the first 48–72 hours, as this can significantly hinder the healing process. The gym can wait! You may need to take a few days off of work if you lift heavy objects or do manual labor.

#5 Take Medications As Directed

Your dentist may prescribe or recommend medications to alleviate pain and inflammation. Please take medications as directed to ensure you heal properly and safely.
